Lauren's ABC7 Segment with Lori Corbin!

  • 1 min read
According to fitness expert Lauren Roxburgh, less is more. Current clients Britney Vest and Liza Rosen turned to Roxburgh after previous methods of fitness left them with tight hips and painful knees. Roxburgh wrote a step-by-step guide on using a foam roller to achieve a taller, slimmer and younger body in 21 days. The book is called "Taller, Slimmer, Younger," and it is not only meant to help ease pain, but also to help the body slim down and get younger.

"Taller is all about posture and alignment and body awareness, and slimmer is about engaging your intrinsic core muscles, strengthening and sculpting the right muscles that we lose as we age, and the younger is all about bringing hydration to the connective tissue," Roxburgh said.

In addition to using the foam roller, Roxburgh recommends the rebounder for a cardiovascular blast. "NASA has done research on the rebounder, and they found that it's 50 percent more effective for cardiovascular training and also fat burning than running," Roxburgh said. Roxburgh says that starting at 10 minutes on the rebounder is a great start to increase lymphatic circulation, brain development and brain-to-body awareness that helps with balance. Whether or not the goal is to be taller, slimmer and younger, the foam roller can help to break up tight connective tissue called fascia. "Fascia is where we hold stress and tension and trauma and blockages. It can become thick, hard and dense," Roxburgh said.
